For the complete story, read Many ‘Fringe’ fans watch later, say ‘don’t ask me to choose’ on Examiner.com.

Here in the Pop Media office, we have been saying all season that Fringe needed a different time slot. Thursday nights are a heavy night for television. With so many good shows on Thursday nights, viewers are inevitably going to have to choose between favorites.

Or at least, choose to push a favorite off until later.

Fringe watchers have been doing exactly that. According to new numbers, Fringe gets a 41% boost in viewership when DVR numbers are added into the mix. It appears that even though fans may choose to watch another show before Fringe, they still want to watch Fringe.

This begs the question once again: why won’t Fox just move Fringe back to a different time slot. Fringe may be the strongest show that Fox has to put in that slot, but even so the show is struggling along with great difficulty, despite having a better season creatively than its freshman…

For the complete story, read Many ‘Fringe’ fans watch later, say ‘don’t ask me to choose’ on Examiner.com.

BC recently confirmed that Eastwick is dead in the water, and will not have any orders for more episodes any time in the future. Logic would dictate then that LOST, which seems to have lost its cozy spot at 9/8 C on Wednesday nights, would move in to fill the gap in January.

Maybe not. Insiders at ABC have reportedly told the folks at eonline.com that Ugly Betty is eyeing that spot hungrily, and may actually steal that from LOST as well.

A move to Wednesdays makes sense for the floundering comedy, considering that two of ABC’s new comedies, Modern Family and Cougar Town, are flourishing on Wednesday nights. If Ugly Betty were to move in to capitalize on the viewers for those two shows, ABC would have an even stronger comedy lineup for Wednesday nights.

So what does this mean for the poor, homeless LOST? Do the islanders get last pick because they’re on their way out?

The short answer is that not even Damon Lindelof, one of the LOST masters, doesn’t even know the answer to that question. Lindelof recently told USA Today that he has no idea where ABC is going to put LOST (but also said that he loves ABC’s Wednesday night comedies).

We will let you know as soon as there is any official word on where LOST is going to find its home this season. Don’t forget to watch the slideshow below!

The AP recently reported that a number of disabled actors are less than happy that a non-disabled actor was cast in the role of a disabled student on Fox‘s new hit comedy, Glee.

Kevin McHale, a non-disabled 21-year-old, plays Artie Abrams, a wheelchair-bound student in the glee club at his school. His responsibilities include singing, dancing (in a wheelchair), and acting with charisma.

However, it is not McHale’s abilities that have angered these actors, but rather his lack of disabilities. Many of these disabled actors view people like Kevin McHale as major obstacles to wide acceptance of disabled actors in the business.

Brad Falchuk, executive producer of Glee, expressed understanding, but satnds by the hiring of Kevin McHale based on his talents. He also says that it was very difficult to find a qualified cast for the show, even among able-bodied actors.

What do you think? Is this an overreaction, or are these claims valid? Sound off in the comments below! And watch the slideshow!

Tuesday we reported that rumors were circling the Internet about the possibility of the villain Black Cat appearing in Spiderman 4 as the new thorn in Peter Parker’s side. According to the reports, Rachel McAdams was eyeing a spot on the Spiderman 4 cast, and seemed a likely candidate.

Today, Wednesday, the website Hey You Guys says that Rachel McAdams isn’t alone in her desire to play the super-villain, but that the story of Spiderman 4 does surround Black Cat and her fight against our friendly neighborhood Marvel arachnid.

 According to the report:

“Apparently she is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as ‘a viper’. She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker.”

A likely scenario? Tell us what you think in the comments below. And watch the slideshow of Black Cat.

Fringe may be the strongest show that Fox has to put in that slot, but even so the show is struggling along with great difficulty, despite having a better season creatively than its freshman outing.

The good news? J.J. Abrams has said that he doesn’t believe that the show is in any immediate danger, because the studio execs understand that they have put Fringe in a terrible time slot. This means Fringe may survive, no matter how battle-scarred it is from fighting against the guys from CSI and the doctors of Grey‘s.

Hold on a little longer, Fringe, hold on.

Sir Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver made the first Alien movie a success
(20th Century Fox)

Alien creator Sir Ridley Scott confirmed back in July that he would, in fact, be coming back to direct a prequel to the series sometime in the near future. With all the other projects Scott has involved himself in, however, people began to wonder if and when this prequel would ever get the chance to terrorize humans again.

Where have Sir Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel details been hiding?

Recently Empire managed to grab Sir Ridley Scott to ask him some questions about the movie, and he confirmed once again that the prequel was still on his docket, and gave a few quotes to add even more credence:

“It’s a brand new box of tricks,” Sir Ridley told Empire. “We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”

What’s this about a human focus in Alien prequel?

Sir Ridley Scott also told Empire that they’ve “decided to reboot the story in an attempt to give it a human focus.”

The man who made the first two Alien movies work so well is excited about his upcoming project, and that’s all I need to know to join him. But what do you think? Will this “more human focus” sully or save the franchise? Weigh in by posting a comment below!

J.J. Abrams has expressed interest in a future Superman project, MTV’s Splash Page blog
reports. While interest far from a movie makes, we have seen many times
before that interest from the right director/producer can take us a
giant leap toward reality.

Abrams wrote a screenplay for a Superman movie a while back, and his recent quote has caused him to revisit the possibility.

Said Abrams: “It was a very passionate character for me. As a kid
growing up it meant a lot to me. It would be wonderful and fun to see
that brought back. I don’t know what Warners is thinking or what their
plan is. It would be a blast.”

Warner Bros., has been told by attorney to one of the co-creators of the Superman franchise that if they don’t put out a new Superman
movie by 2011, they could be facing legal action. The rights to
Superman have been pretty shady waters for a while now, but if it meant
that the studio could avoid legal action AND put out a Superman movie with the backing of J.J. Abrams’ fan base, this could be a win/win situation for the studio.

Many parents are electing to keep their children home from school on the day of the address. Others are requesting that their children be provided an alternative activity during the elementary address during school hours. Their reasons range from a belief that Obama’s address is a form of indoctrination to a simple desire to be able to view the address first before guiding their children through it.

However, some school districts are not allowing children to “opt out” of the President’s address. One school district in particular, the Tempe, Arizona Elementary School District No. 3, has said that parents will not be permitted to pull their children out of class.

FOXnews.com quotes the Tempe superintendent as saying:

I have directed principals to have students and teachers view the president’s message on Tuesday,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Arthur Tate Jr. said in a statement Thursday. “In some cases, where technology will not permit access to the White House Web site, DVDs will be provided to classes on subsequent days. I am not permitting parents to opt out students from viewing the president’s message, since this is a purely educational event.”

The Tempe, Arizona school district has chosen to make a decisions for parents, even though these parents are the primary caretakers and molders of their children.

This raises a number of questions. Who determines what political statements a child can process apart from their parents? Can a school district prevent parents from pulling their children out of class for any address to the school? Are schools able to make political decisions for the parents of their students?
